Earl M. Baker, 84, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2013, following a brief illness. He was born June 15, 1928 in Burdine, Kentucky and was an Elyria resident for most of his life.
Earl worked at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain as a repairman for 31 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Elyria, a United States Army veteran, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and listening to Bluegrass music.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Maxie “Pat” (nee Coleman); daughters, Lynna Baker and Jane Holbrook, both of Elyria; sons, Randy Baker of Terre Haute, Indiana and John and Jeff Baker, both of Elyria; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Hall of Lorain and Thelma Stanley of Kentucky; brothers, Junior and Bobby Baker, both of Virginia, Charles Baker of Elyria, Lonnie Baker of Burdine, Kentucky and Rev. Jimmy Baker of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Service will be Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jimmy Baker, Earl’s brother, will officiate. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
