Lois M. Thompson

Lois M. Thompson (nee Wetherbee), 67, of Elyria, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, May 31, 2013, at University Hospital in Cleveland, following a lengthy illness. She was born October 9, 1945 in Elyria, lived in Chatham, and returned to Elyria in 1964.

Lois worked for many years in nursing homes throughout Lorain and Medina counties, and retired in 1988 when she had heart surgery. She loved spending time with her family. She was a well-known Notary in Elyria, attended Elyria Baptist Church for many years, and raised cockatiels. She enjoyed flower gardening, music, singing, and dancing. She was known by many to be a beautiful Christian woman.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters, Yvonne A. Mills (Carl) of Elyria, and Lois F. Arizmendi (Joe) of Elyria; son, Shane E. Thompson (Stephanie) of Elyria; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild; sister, Julia Pay of Elyria; many nieces and nephews; her best friend, “Fifi”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Thompson (2006); sisters, Katherine Sauer and Eunice Peet; parents, Lawrence and Mildred Wetherbee (nee Smith).

Friends may call 11 A.M. to 1 P.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Elyria Baptist Church, 276 Washington Avenue, Elyria. Funeral service will be at 1 P.M., at the church. Reverend Rick Young, Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Chatham Cemetery, Chatham.
