Roy Allen Slack

Roy Allen Slack, 70, of Grafton Township, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at EMH Healthcare in Elyria, following a short illness. He was born in Elyria on January 22, 1943 and was a life long resident of Lorain County.

He worked in receiving at the Parker-Hannifin Corporation in Avon for 42 years and retired in 2007. Mr. Slack was a member of the Black River Game Club. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, going to drag races, camping and spending time with his family. He was also an avid fan of all the Cleveland professional sports teams.

Mr. Slack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis (nee Cichanski); daughter, Karen Tablett of Carlisle Township; two grandchildren, Taylor and Cole Tablett; two brothers, Phillip Slack (Kathy) of Eaton Township and Earl Slack (Sandy) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Beulah (nee Searles) Slack; and by one brother, Richard Slack.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 2 P.M. until the time of the memorial service at 4:45 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Road), North Ridgeville.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Mercy Cancer Center, 41201 Schaden Road, Elyria, OH 44035.

    Dear Phyllis,
    So sorry to hear about your husband. I know you two were incredibly close. So difficult to lose your partner for all those years. My brothers and I cannot attend the funeral but our thoughts and prayers will be with you. A donation from us will be made to the Mercy Cancer Center in Roy’s name.
