Richard A. “Dick” Donohue, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. Richard was born in Tampa, Florida on January 25, 1945 to his loving parents, Raymond and Geraldine (nee Hammer) Donohue.
He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1963. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He married Becky (nee Trull) on October 17, 1970. Richard worked in accounting with U.S. Steel in Lorain, retiring after 30 years of service and later worked with the Lorain School System in maintenance. He was a member of Amvets Post #20 in Vermilion, Sons of the American Revolution, Dead Yeast Society and Erie County Conservation League. Richard enjoyed trap shooting, high power shooting, making wine, traveling and spending time with his beloved granddaughters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years of marriage, Becky Donohue of Amherst; son, Robert (Carol) Donohue of Aurora; daughter, Melinda (Greg) Zeise of Lorain; granddaughters, Brigid Renee and Ana Sofia; and brother, James (Kathy) Donohue of Wakeman.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Donohue; and parents, Raymond and Geraldine Donohue.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, 440-244-1961, on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Christian burial service will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp., where military honors will be performed by the Amvets Post #20.
