Man accused of abducting, beating girlfriend arrested in Lorain

LORAIN — An Elyria man is accused of abducting, head butting and biting his girlfriend on her neck Friday and later scuffling with police and Lorain City Jail guards.

Tyrone R. White refused to leave the City Hall/Lorain Municipal Court parking lot at 200 W. Erie Ave. around 4:30 p.m., according to police reports. White then resisted being handcuffed and while doing so a small bag of heroin fell out of his pocket, according to the police report. While being booked at the jail, White was uncooperative and was placed in a restraint chair, according to the report, which said he urinated in his holding cell.

White’s girlfriend, who police said had bruises on her cheek and neck, said he assaulted her after she refused to give him her phone after an argument that began at a McDonald’s restaurant and continued on West 10th Street. She said he forced her into a car and drove her to the parking lot while threatening to beat her again.

White, 21, of the 500 block of Bell Avenue, was charged with abduction, assault, aggravated menacing, possession of heroin and tampering with evidence. White has an extensive criminal record that includes convictions for assault, abduction and obstructing official business.

White was being held at the Lorain County Jail on Monday night in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He is due back in court on June 22.
