Pittsfield trustees sue Water Authority board over trustee’s removal

ELYRIA — The Pittsfield Township trustees sued the Rural Lorain County Water Authority board today over the removal of township Trustee Mark McConnell from the Rural Water board last month.

The administrative appeal contends that the removal of McConnell was illegal because it wasn’t done for just cause.

The 26-member Rural Water board first voted 17-9 to remove McConnell on May 15 through a secret ballot over allegations he had disparaged fellow board members and lobbied not to have them reappointed to the board.

After questions were raised about the legality of the secret voting process, the board voted again on May 22 to remove McConnell this time with a vote of 13 to 11, with two members being absent.
