12:52 a.m. — 4300 block Leavitt Road, Jacqueline Major, 55, 3900 block of Courtyard Drive, issued a citation for physical control of a motor vehicle. Police said Major was intoxicated and sleeping behind the wheel of her vehicle, which was parked in the lane of travel in the Walmart parking lot. Police said Major had a blood-alcohol content of 0.242 and a nearly empty fifth of liquor was found on the driver’s seat.
9:23 a.m. — 2800 block Riverside Drive, James Hylton, 82, same address, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Police said Hylton grabbed his wife’s arm and reportedly kicked his stepdaughter in the stomach. Hylton’s stepdaughters told police Hylton, who had brain surgery last year, was upset about his sleeping arrangement. Hylton admitted to having anger issues and grabbing his wife’s arm, but he said he did not grab her arm in a violent way. He said he kicked his stepdaughter in self-defense because she was going to hit him.
2:16 p.m. —100 block W. Erie Ave., theft of several items from a vehicle that was parked at the Lorain Public Library.
3:55 p.m. — 2800 block Lincoln St., theft of several items from an unlocked garage. The owner said she remembered seeing a short, thin white man with multiple tattoos pushing a lawnmower and carrying an extension cord down the street, but she did not realize that the items may have belonged to her until discovering her garage door was open.
3:57 p.m. — 2500 block E. 42nd St., theft of several items during a home burglary.
7 p.m. — 300 block Florida Ave., a man reported that the gas tanks on two of his vehicles had been tampered with and the inside flap was missing.
Wednesday, May 22
4:30 a.m. — 100 block W. Lorain St., police agreed to dispose of a mason jar of suspected marijuana from Oberlin College Safety and Security.
8:32 a.m. — 14000 block state Route 58, $318 worth of quarters stolen from machines at Laser Wash. The cameras were not working at the time of the theft.
5:13 p.m. — South Main Street, detectives investigated case of debit card misuse.
Thursday, May 23
2:32 p.m. — 46000 block of U.S. Route 20, Jodi Herman, 40, of Elyria, charged with theft of 99 grocery items worth $674.73 from Walmart.
3:03 p.m. — N. Professor St., door leading to the observatory at Peters Hall at Oberlin College smashed. Authorities unsure about whether anything was stolen.

2:47 a.m. — Groveland Street, resident reported theft of television.

12:18 a.m. — 800 block N. Main St., Clyde Valentine, 61, of Garland, Texas, cited for reckless operation.
3:53 a.m. — 800 block N. Main St., police responded to a complaint about a man sleeping in the doorway of a business. The officer bought the man a cup of coffee.

1:26 p.m. — 800 block N. Main St., Ronald F. Rhinehardt Jr., 48, of Louisville, Ky., charged with driving under OVI suspension, physical control and driving left of center.
Sunday, June 2
2:06 p.m. — 300 block Clay St., woman found old handgun while tilling the garden.

9:12 p.m. — 300 block Lakeside Ave., police responded to domestic violence complaint. No charges filed.
Wednesday, June 5
12:30 p.m. — Wellington Recreation Park, juvenile cited with public indecency after allegedly getting out of a truck and urinating on a tree in front of 125 fifth-graders.
