Verna I. Quillen

Quillen, VernaVerna I. Quillen (nee Ramsey), 85, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013. She was a former resident of Elyria and was born June 30, 1927 in Coeburn, Virginia.

Verna enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of the Elyria Church of God since 1989. She enjoyed sending cards to friends, shopping, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Quillen is survived by her children, Gary Quillen of Fremont, Patricia Sherwood of Sandusky, Christine Reyes of Downy, California, Glenda Morin of Sandusky, Claude Quillen of Sandusky, Robert Quillen of Sandusky, and Cynthia Monk of Sheffield Lake; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Donald and Kyle Quillen; brother, Charlie; sisters, Lucille, Fronie, Vida, and Stella Hall, who passed on June 6, 2013 and will make this journey with her; parents, Charles and Molly (nee Hensdel) Ramsey.

Friends may call 10 until 11 A.M., Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Elyria Church of God, 7942 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria. Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. Friday, at the church. Reverend Thom Cody will officiate. Interment will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Verna Quillen Memorial Fund at PNC Bank, 129 West Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, Elyria.

    Condolences to the Quillen family.I am so sorry for your loss Verna was my moms best friend her name was Audrey Barr she passed away 9/25/09.I had not seen Verna since I was a child.She was a very sweet woman.My heart goes out to the family.
