LORAIN – A woman that family believed was missing after she reportedly left the city three weeks ago has been found and is OK, said Lorain Detective Chris Kovach.
Lorain police followed up on reports from the family that former Lorain resident Angeliz Medina Rivera may have been held against her will by her boyfriend. They contacted the Miami Dade Police Department, which did a welfare check and confirmed Rivera was in Florida, and Rivera said she was fine.
Rivera also called her father in Puerto Rico after hearing news reports about her disappearance, said her mother Luz Medina.
Luz Medina flew home to Lorain to file a police report Thursday, and Angel Arroyo, pastor of .com ministries, and Felix DeJesus, father of kidnapping victim, Gina DeJesus, plastered missing person fliers in the community.
Luz Medina and Arroyo were skeptical that Angeliz Medina Rivera, 23, had gone to Florida on her own free will as her boyfriend had been charged with kidnapping her in the past. Kovach said those charges were dropped when Angeliz Medina Rivera moved to Puerto Rico after the charges were filed.
