Elyria police seek man after drive-through break-in overnight

ELYRIA — Police are looking for a man who broke in to the Ten 2 Ten Drive Thru Beverage shop on Antioch Drive overnight.

According to a police report, officers were called about 10:25 p.m. Sunday and found a back garage door damaged, as if it was struck by a vehicle.

A man who lives at 180 College Park Drive told them he’d attempted to go to the beverage shop about 10 p.m. but found it closed. He then walked to Stubby’s Bar and had a drink, he said. As we was returning home, he said he heard the drive-through’s alarm going off and noticed the damage to the garage door.

Video from the Ten 2 Ten Drive Thru Beverage Facebook page:

Officers were able to enter the business by lifting the garage door, and found no one in the shop.

Police made contact with the building owner, who was able to make contact with the closing employee as well as another employee, the report said.

Officers found an inner door damaged as well and broken glass on the inside of the drive-through in the entrance and the counter area and near registers, the report said. They found numerous cigarette packs pulled down from the shelves and strewn about the floor.

No money or lottery tickets appeared to be missing, according to the report, but numerous packs of cigarettes were taken.

Video showed a suspect crawling under the rear garage door, running to the office door and attempting to kick it open, the report said. He then took out a blue pry-bar and struck the window to gain entry to the office.

The man is described as a light-skinned black male 23 to 35 years old. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans cuffed at the bottom, dark work boots and white gloves with a dark stripe across them. He has a mustache and is believed to be right-handed.

Anyone with information on his identity is asked to contact Elyria police at 323-3302.
