Leo L. Myers

OBIT FLAGLeo L. Myers, 91, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at his residence, following a short illness. He was born April 28, 1922 in Grafton and was a life-long resident of Lorain County.

He was a 1940 graduate of Grafton High School. Mr. Myers was a veteran and was a sergeant in the 5th Air Force of the U.S. Army Air-Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was a B-24 mechanic and served in the pacific theatre, mostly in Australia. For a time, he worked in the shipping department of United Airlines at Cleveland Airport. He then worked as a carpenter for many years. Mr. Myers also owned and operated The Country Shop in Huntington from 1977 until his retirement in 1986. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Elyria and a dedicated volunteer at Baptist Mid-Missions. He enjoyed woodcarving. Mr. Myers especially loved to help others and to spend time with his beloved family.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Pardee of Lafayette, Colorado; one son, Roger Myers of Lorain; grandsons, Brian Pardee (Alison) and Mark Pardee (Maya); five great grandchildren, Ian, Kyle, Annika, Juliet and Lukas Pardee; one sister, Devona Grundy of North Ridgeville; and three nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Cleo (nee Hoskin) in 2009; by two brothers, Delbert and Robert Myers; and by one niece.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 1:30 P.M., until the time of the memorial service at 3 P.M., at First Baptist Church, 11400 LaGrange Road, Elyria. Pastor Patrick Odle will officiate. Burial will be private at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the church.
