No injuries reported in drive-by shooting

ELYRIA — No one was injured in a drive-by shooting at a house at 237 Eighth St., around 11:40 p.m. Friday, police said.

Witnesses said a dark-colored Oldsmobile Bravada with its lights off stopped in front of the home and the driver fired five to eight shots, according to police reports. Four women and nine young children were on the porch. A woman at the home said she has had ongoing problems with the man including property damage and threats, which she hadn’t reported to police.

Several shell casings were found at the scene and a slug ithat had shattered the back window of a parked car. The driver of the car wasn’t found.

Police have charged the man in the Bravada with discharging a firearm at a habitation and having a weapon under disability, but said they wouldn’t identify him until he has been arrested. The man remained free Sunday night.
