Roger W. Evert, 62, of Grafton, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his residence. Roger was born March 11, 1951 in Cleveland and grew up in Strongsville. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
Roger was the owner/operator of Evert Excavating in Grafton, which he founded in 1989. He also formerly owned Evert’s food and beverage in North Ridgeville and was a former Eaton Township volunteer firefighter and EMT. Roger was a certified scuba diver and a private pilot.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Roger enjoyed fishing and pinochle, was a “master of leisure sports” and loved bird watching and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane (nee Janik); one son, Nick Evert (Danielle) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one daughter, Kara Evert (Paul) of Elyria; one sister, Beverly Bastoky (Larry) of Wadsworth; and one brother, Richard Evert of Strongsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dorothy Evert and one son, Zach Evert.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 2 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 4 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.
