Virginia A. Bryda (nee Smith), 95, of Elyria, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville, following a long illness. Virginia was born May 12, 1918 in Grafton and lived in Elyria for most of her life.
She was a machinist at Empire Springs for many years and a homemaker. She was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and now St. Jude Catholic Church.
Surviving her are one daughter, Mary Ann Miller of Durham, North Carolina; one son, Daniel of Elyria; five grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Bryda in 2007; six sisters, Nellie Tarnowki, Theresa Malanowski, Josephine McMullen, Viola Huya, Netti Janas and Della Siekierski; three brothers, Walter, Steven and Edward Smith; and her parents, Edward and Mary (nee Noster) Smith.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be Friday, June 21, 2013 in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
