Viola E. Ferrante

FERRANTEVIOLAViola E. Ferrante, 99, of Oberlin, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. She was born February 9, 1914, in Brooklyn, New York.

Viola attended St. Judes Catholic Church in Elyria and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. She enjoyed the Senior Center, needle craft (patchwork) making quilts and pillows used from recycled mens ties. She enjoyed baking, especially Christmas cookies, reading, gardening and the enjoyment of being around people.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Anthony) Lisanti of Oberlin; grandson, Joe Lisanti of Venice, California; brother, Walter Strausz of East Meadow, Long Islandand special niece, Linda Caponetti of Ridgefield, Connecticut.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell A. Ferrante; father and mother, Bernard T. and Anna Strausz; and son, Douglas B. Ferrante.

A Memorial Service will be held at Russia Township Cemetery, under the pavilion, Friday, June 28, 2013, at 11 A.M. Father Robert J. Cole, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will officiate. A private family burial will be in New Russia Township Cemetery.
