Ronald K. Brewer, Sr., 71, of Grafton, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain, after a lengthy illness. He was born July 17, 1941 in Slab Fork, West Virginia, and was a resident of Grafton for 46 years, moving from Cleveland, where he had lived for three years.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Berlin Crisis. Ronald was a 40 plus year member of North Eaton Baptist Church, acting as a Deacon for the past eight years. Ronald was a supervisor at LTV Steel in Cleveland, where he worked in the 80 inch hot mill slab yard, retiring in 1987, after 22 years of service.
Ronald was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He spent his free time woodworking, working crossword puzzles, enjoying John Wayne movies, and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. Above all else though, Ronald enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia (nee Davidson); daughter, Theresa Brewer of Elyria; son, Ronald Keith, Jr. (Vicki) Brewer of Elyria; grandchildren, Nicole (John) Crum of North Ridgeville, Bryan (Ashley) Gruhn of Elyria and Madison Brewer of Elyria; great grandson, Owen Crum of North Ridgeville; mother, Georgia E. (nee League) Brewer of West Virginia; brothers, Charles Leslie Brewer of Georgia, Ray (Carolyn) Brewer of West Virginia, Kenneth (Shelby) Brewer of Dayton, and Gary Brewer of Virginia; and sisters, Glenda (Tom) Kidwelll of Oklahoma, Janice (Roger) Keaton and Sheila Lusk, both of West Virginia.
Ronald was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Gay Brewer; and father, Charles A. Brewer.
Funeral service will be held at North Eaton Baptist Church, 12109 Reed Rd, Grafton, Friday, June 28, 2013 at 1 P.M. (Everyone please meet at Church.) The family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Additional visitation will be held for half an hour prior to the funeral service at Church. Interment, with Military Honors, will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
