Lewis “Lew” Robinson, Jr., of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013, following a short illness. He was born in Edgefield, South Carolina, coming to Elyria, where he spent most of his life.
He was a graduate of Elyria High School class of 1965 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam, an air traffic controller in Oberlin, a graduate of the FAA Ohio peace administration, and a probation officer in the Lorain County Detention Home, Elyria.
Mr. Robinson attended Second Baptist Church at an early age and continued to be a faithful servant for the Lord until he was called home. He enjoyed fishing, barbeques, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anna L. Robinson of Elyria; daughters, Mary (Bill) Stembal, Terri A. Stembal of Elyria; son, Ian (Shanices) Robinson of Bedford; three grandchildren; sister, Donna (Eddie) Mitchell of Elyria; brothers, James “Bob” (Connie) Robinson of Lorain, John (Deana) Robinson of Elyria, Rodney (Kathleen) Robinson of Columbus, Calvin (Elizabeth) Robinson of Bentleyville; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Robinson, Sr.; stepfather, Rufus Dean; mother, Cladine Dean; and sister, Annie Edwards.
Friends may call Monday, July 1, 2013, from 10 A.M., until the time of service at 11 A.M., at Second Baptist Church, 427 Chapman Lane, Elyria. Pastor Kelvin M. Roberts, of the church, will officiate. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Fifth Third Bank branch in memory of Lewis Robinson.
