David Howard Rice

OBIT FLAGRiceDavidDavid Howard Rice, 70, was born May 17, 1943 in Buffalo, New York and died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 surrounded by his family and his beloved wife of 49 years, Margaret (Flynn), at his side.

David proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 28 years. He attended Marion Steele L. High School in Amherst and Lorain County Community College in Elyria. He retired in Florida where he enjoyed fishing, golfing and boating. When in Ohio, he enjoyed watching his many grandchildren’s sports and other activities and events. David was a member of the Vermilion Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Flynn) Rice; son, David M. Rice (Kammera); daughters, Julie Schnieders (Mark) and Heather Aponte (Hector); grandchildren, Caitlyn Arendt (Bryan), Kelsey Rice, Aaron Rice, Nathan Schnieders, Riley Schnieders, Gabriel Aponte and Harper Aponte; a brother, James Rice (Dianne).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Evelyn (Johnson) Rice.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 6 P.M. at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriners Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst.
