Ronald E. Stomieroski, 80, of Elyria, passed away peacefully, June 27, 2013 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 8, 1932 in Olean, New York, where he spent his early years, graduating from Olean High School.
He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and Japan. Upon discharge, he enrolled at Alfred State College in Alfred, New York, completing an associate’s degree. He then transferred to Kent State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Ron retired in February 2000 from the Eureka Company, where he was employed as a sales manager. He left the following month for the first of many baseball spring training adventures to Florida and Arizona with his good friend and fellow baseball fan, Bill Norteman of Woodruff, South Carolina. Ron also enjoyed travels with this wife and family to many areas of the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher for many years and also served as a trustee.
Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol and their three children, Jennifer DeVine (Peter) of Shaker Heights, Amy Stomieroski of Columbus (Mark Gannon of Boston) and Mark Stomieroski (Michelle) of Middleburg Heights; and his granddaughter, Claire Anne DeVine, who was a special joy in his life; he is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Brandal; nieces, nephews and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Stomieroski; and his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Loretta Stomieroski.
The family will welcome friends in the parlor at First United Methodist Church, 312 Third Street, Elyria, Monday, July 1, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the church, with Reverend Roger Talbott officiating. Burial will be private in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church.
