Dorothy “Dody” Hoefs (nee Keidel), 80 years old, of Elyria, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, following a short illness. Dorothy was born October 10, 1932 in Hankinson, North Dakota and lived in Elyria since 1952.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Dorothy enjoyed all sports, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her friends at senior citizen exercise classes at her church. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Ron) Gullion of Zephyrhills, Florida, Nancy (Rick) Smalley; and two sons, Robert and Michael (Lori) Hoefs, all of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Four sisters, Shirley Gast and Marilyn Petterson, both of Minnesota, and Nancy Keidel and Cynthia Gaul, both of North Dakota, also survive.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley R. Hoefs in 2002; one brother, Allan Michael Keidel; and her parents, Michael and Lucille (nee Allen) Keidel.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Friday, July 5, 2013, from 4 until 7 P.M. Friends may also call Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 10 A.M., until the time of funeral services at 11 A.M., at St. John Lutheran Church, 1140 West River Road North, Elyria. Pastor Jim Herbolsheimer will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
