Sister Ann Mary (Ann Jane McLaughlin) died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at University Hospital Main Campus. Sister was born December 25, 1935, in Elyria, and was known for her compassionate and loving response to the needs of all she encountered.
She ministered as an educator in elementary schools for 40 years, and then as a pastoral minister and volunteer at the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Sister Ann treasured her family and friends and the beauty of creation. Always on the go, she witnessed to God’s goodness and care for all.
She was the loving sister of Stella (Ted, deceased) Joyce, Charles (Bonnie), Agnes (Andrew, deceased) Blackley, Mary (Peter, deceased) Kenny, Dennis (Gladys) and William; aunt to 54 loving nieces and nephews, innumerable grandnieces and grandnephews; and sister to the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame, with whom she shared her life for 57 years.
Sister Ann Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James Patrick and Ann Marie (nee Ross) McLaughlin; and her brothers, James and Gerard.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Ann Mary McLaughlin, SND, 77, will be at 5 P.M., on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. Friends may call at the Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., with a special prayer service at 7 P.M., and on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 2 to 4:45 P.M. The burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery on the Notre Dame Education Center grounds on Thursday.
