Glendon E. Thompson, Sr., 71, of North Ridgeville, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake. He was born September 19, 1941 in Cool Ridge, West Virginia. Mr. Thompson had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 44 years.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich for 34 years and retired in 1998. Mr. Thompson was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and he loved watching their games.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon (nee Maxwell); two sons, Patrick Thompson of Texas and Glendon E. Thompson, Jr. of North Ridgeville; five grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas and Katherine of Texas and Scott and Matthew of North Ridgeville; and two brothers, William and Tommy Thompson, both of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Hallie (nee Bowling) Thompson; one son, Richard Thompson; two sisters, Mary Virginia and Ruth; and by four brothers, James, Phillip, Earl and Charlie.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 5 P.M. until the time of a memorial service at 7 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Rev. Charles A. Butcher, Pastor of North Eaton Christian Church, will officiate.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN or to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.
