Lorain man allegedly stabbed during walk

LORAIN — A man who had been drinking at home received what police said was a serious stab wound after he went for a walk early Saturday morning.

Kevin Hardie, 21, was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center by his mother when he returned home about 7 a.m. Saturday, police reports said.

Hardie, who police said appeared to be highly intoxicated, had no recollection of being assaulted by anyone and couldn’t tell police exactly where the incident occurred when he was questioned in the hospital’s emergency room.

Hardie’s mother told police he had been drinking at home most of the night before leaving about 4 a.m. to go for a walk. She learned her son had been stabbed shortly before 7 a.m. from a stepdaughter.

Emergency room staff told police Hardie received a severe cut to the front of his left bicep from what they concluded was an instrument with a sharp blade. After being treated at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Hardie was hospitalized at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, police said. A nursing supervisor at MetroHealth said Hardie apparently was discharged as she had no record of his being a patient there Saturday night.
