Man facing robbery, obstruction charges

ELYRIA — A city man faces robbery and obstructing official business charges.

Jose Anibal Barbosa, 28, of the 1100 block of Melvyn Lane, is accused of trying to punch a security guard at Sears at Midway Mall around 1:55 p.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

According to the report, a surveillance video shows Anibal Barbosa fighting with the guard in the parking lot. The guard said Anibal Barbosa stole two ratchets from the store.

Police chased Anibal Barbosa and caught him at the Foxes Lair Apartments complex, 2280 West River Road, N. The report said Anibal Barbosa struggled when police tried to handcuff him and police body slammed Anibal Barbosa to handcuff him.

Bond and court information on Barbosa was unavailable Sunday.
