OBIT FLAGSalserRichard_Page_1_Image_0001Richard W. Salser, 56, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his residence Sunday, June 30, 2013. He was born in Oberlin on January 24, 1957 and was raised in Lorain County. He returned as a resident of Lorain County in 1989.

Mr. Salser was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army as a Calvary Scout from 1979 to 1987. He was currently working as a carpenter at Park Place Properties, where he had been employed for 16 years. Mr. Salser was a member of AMVETS post 32 in Elyria. He was an avid fisherman and he also enjoyed motorcycles.

He is survived by two daughters, Crystal Johnston (Jay) of Temple, Texas and Amy Salser (Bill Ross) of Temple, Texas; eight grandchildren, Michaela, Taylor, Nathan, Natalie, Jeremy Jr., Joshua, Zoey and Brady’ and one grandchild on the way; one brother, Michael Salser of Southern Ohio; and one sister, LaDonna Dawson, also of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryn in 2005; and his parents, Raymond B. and Verna Mae (nee White) Salser.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 1 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will be private.
