William J. (Willie/Bill) Walko

WalkoWilliam J. picWilliam J. (Willie/Bill) Walko, 83, of Grafton, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his home, following a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1930 in Avon and lived in the LaGrange/Grafton areas for most of his life.

Willie was self-employed for 40 years delivering gasoline and fuel oil. He also delivered for 5 years with the Town and Country Co-Op. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, woodworking, bowling, fishing, polka music and spending winters in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia (nee Leonard); daughters, Nancy (Gary) Smith, Debbie (Jeff) Lehman, and Sharon (Mike) Byers; grandchildren, Zach, Josh, Nick, Sheena, Greg and Justin; great grandchildren, Lisa and Kaydence; sisters, Betty Moss and Helen Walko.

He was preceded in death by family members, Anne Walko, Mary Hibler, William, Mike, Frank, Pete, Harry, Johnny, and Andy Walko.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 708 Erie St., Grafton. The Rev. Fr. John P. Seabold, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
