Robert W. Trifiletti

trifilettiRobertRobert W. Trifiletti, 65, of Lorain, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, in the MICU at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, while surrounded by his family. He was born October 17, 1947 in Lorain, and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Trif graduated from Admiral King High School in 1965, where he was a member of the Barons. He also graduated from Lorain County Community College and the Ohio State University.

Trif worked as a Probation Officer for the city of Lorain, retiring after 20 years. Later, he co-managed Slovak Lanes in Lorain before retiring. Trif was an avid bowler starting at the age of 16 and bowled in many leagues and tournaments. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a Cleveland Browns fan.

He was a member of the American Slovak Club of Lorain, BPOE Elks Lodge #1301 of Lorain, Slovak Catholic Sokols, St. John/Holy Trinity Lodge #228, the Church of St. Peter and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, both of Lorain.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Kathleen Trifiletti (nee Gavron); daughters, Tina Trifiletti-Hellinger (Brian) and Lisa Trifiletti-Palos (Luis), all of Lorain; grandchildren, Ryan W. Trifiletti, Brianna Trifiletti, Jonathan Hellinger, Julia Hellinger and Nathan Palos; step grandchildren, Sarah, Brittany and Brian Hellinger; great grandchildren, Jaiden Hellinger and Lelianna Trifiletti; and brother, Joseph T. Trifiletti II of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia Trifiletti.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 2 until 8 P.M., at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 10:30 A.M., in the funeral chapel, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M., at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Reverend Gerald J. Keller will be the Celebrant. Cremation will follow.
