Gold-panning event on Sunday

There’s gold in the Vermilion River, and you can try panning for it Sunday.

That’s when Western Reserve Land Conservancy will hold its fourth annual gold-panning event at the Lorain County Metro Parks Vermilion River Reservation.

Panning will be done from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Participants will meet on the Mill Hollow side of the river. Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Come prepared to learn a little bit about the river, have fun and maybe get lucky.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP to kpilacky@wrlandconservancy.org or call (440) 774-4226.

The Land Conservancy has preserved more than 480 properties and approximately 35,000 acres in northern Ohio. Its mission is to preserve the region’s scenic beauty, rural character and natural resources.

The amount of gold is so small, its not even worth bothering with.
That’s one reason why there is NO gold mining in Ohio.

I doubt that the event is about finding that one ounce nugget…

…probably something stupid, like having a little fun.

      **sheesh!**
