Charles “Dick” Richard Trottier

TrottierCharlesOBIT FLAGCharles “Dick” Richard Trottier, 84, of Amherst, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a sudden illness. He was born April 19, 1929 in Cavalier, North Dakota. Dick had made his home in the Amherst area for over 50 years.

He proudly served in the United States Navy. Dick was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Local 18 Operating Engineers. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and NASCAR. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Shirley Trottier (nee Slack); his son, Scott Trottier and his wife, Judy of Amherst; his daughters, Bonnie Meyer, Toni Nicklaus and her husband Ron, all of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; step daughter, Barb Dillon and her husband, Brendan of Elyria; stepson, Don Chutes and his wife, Winnie of Plain City, Ohio, and her step daughter, Susie Chutes of Elyria; grandchildren, David Trottier, Stacey (Chris) Renaldo, Phil (Cassie) Golden, Aaron Golden, Danielle (Cody) Freemyer, Benjamin (Codie) Molnar, Casey White, Terceira Molnar, Chris White, R.J. (Megan) Nicklaus, Colt Nicklaus, Samantha Greenlee, Matthew Ruiz, Eamon Dillon, Marissa Greenlee; great grandchildren, Krista, Taylor, Jennifer, Trevor, Casey, Austin, Gavin, Abel, Ella; and his brother, Jack Trottier and his wife, Joyce of Amherst; nephews, Alan, Jeff (Janine) Trottier.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles “Rick” Richard Trottier; daughter, Pamela Trottier; brothers, Louis, Norvill Trottier; sister, Alice Crosby; and by his parents, Joseph “Joe” and Pearl Trottier (nee Bill).

A private service will be held for family and friends at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Area Chapter, P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194-4924.
