Dorothy Jean Yingling (nee Baker), 92, of Elyria, died Sunday, July 14, 2013. Dorothy made her home in Elyria since 1962 and most recently at The Abbewood. She was born February 13, 1921 in Corsica, Pennsylvania.
She graduated from New Kensington High School in 1938. There she met her future husband, Joseph Yingling. They were married in 1941 and celebrated 64 years together before his death in 2005. Dorothy was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria, served as a Deaconess on the Wedding Committee. She belonged to First Church Women and Mayflower Guild, DAR and Fourthers of the YWCA. She volunteered both at EMH and Life Care of Elyria. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge, and most of all time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Richard S. (Marci) Yingling of Elyria; two grandchildren, Robert (Deserie) Yingling and Julie (Chuck) Harold; and two great grandchildren, Hailey and Chase Harold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Yingling in 2005; one son, Randy Yingling in 1992; her parents, Paul and Valetta (nee Pierce) Yingling; brother, Robert; sister, Betty; and her step father, Edgar Evans.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be in the funeral home Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
