Inogene “Gene” Henry, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 in the Center Ridge Health Care Center, following a long illness. She was born in Belvedere, Tennessee, coming to Elyria in 1956.
She was a Student Mentor for the Roosevelt Elementary School in Elyria, retiring after many years of dedicated service, and was an Aide for the Elyria Methodist Home.
Inogene was a member of Original Church of God in Elyria, where she served as a choir member, usher, and was on the kitchen committee.
She enjoyed singing, traveling, and dining out with family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Sherman Duvall, Shearo Henry and Silas Henry, all of Elyria; daughters, Carolyn Johnson and Marsha Shumate, both of Elyria; 13 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also suriving is a sister, Dimple Lawson of Elyria; brother in law, Gerald Childress, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dean Henry; father, Charlie Taylor; her mother, Elear Taylor; and sister, Flora Childress.
Friends may call Friday, July 19, 2013 from 10 A.M. until time of Service at 12 Noon, in the Original Church of God, 512 Edward Ave., Elyria, where Elder Ernest McKenny will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
