The man, who was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, entered the bank, at 1825 E. 28th St., just before noon.
According to FBI Special Agent Vicki D. Anderson, the man made off with money, but she wouldn’t disclose the amount. She said no one was hurt in the incident.
The man is described as 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 with a “medium-length” goatee. He was wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans, a black baseball-style cap and sunglasses.
Bank employees said he spoke with a Hispanic accent. They added that he was of “medium build” and appeared to be in his late 30s.
He was observed to leave the credit union on foot southbound across West 28th Street and then westbound down an alley.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity or whereabouts is asked to contact either the Lorain Police Department at (440) 204-2106, Ext. 2166, or the FBI at (216) 522-1400. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and reward money is available.
