Facebook removes ‘Creatures’ page

Facebook has quashed the Creatures of Lorain County page.
Amy Clark of Elyria said she learned in an email late Thursday the page would no longer be published on the social networking site. She was told it violated Facebook’s Community Guidelines but was told she could appeal the decision, she said.
Clark said she is appealing the decision to yank the page, but she does not anticipate winning.
“I’m just going to make a new page today and make it a private group page,” she said. “That way people will have to ask permission to be on it and I can delete people and add people when I want. That way Facebook really can’t touch it.”
As of 1 a.m. today, a closed group called “The Creatures of Lorain County 2” was on Facebook. It had 1,150 members and Clark was listed as an administrator.
Clark’s argument may have some validity as some very risque group pages with adult content can be found on Facebook but are viewed by invite only.
“I don’t understand what the big deal is with my page because there are way worse pages out there,” said the 32-year-old.
Her page had a large following for a local page. At last count, there were nearly 26,000 followers from all over the country. Clark said it has been viewed by Facebook users as far away as Russia.
Clark’s most active opponent was David Stewart of Elyria.
He lobbied Facebook to have to page removed, started a petition on Change.org calling for its removal and even started an anti-Creatures page, the Creatures of the Creatures of Lorain County.
“I’m not the only who complained to Facebook,” Steward said. “There have been numerous people who have silently been against the page. I was just the most vocal in saying this is not right for our community.”
Stewart said the page only served to tarnish the image and reputation of Lorain County, which is trying to rebound and rebuild. In an attempt to distance himself further from the page, Stewart has renamed his page Strength and Loyalty for Lorain County.
“I have plans to move forward and help the community more. I want to be the voice for people to be against hate, bullying, violence and racism,” he said. “There are better ways to help those misfortune people out. By putting a page online of pictures showing how the people dress knowing most of the people will not see the page, will not help.”

If big, fat, disgusting, comically dressed clowns are so sensitive…

…how can they look in the mirror without strongly considering the option of losing weight, over sucking down a can of Reddi-Wip to deaden their senses?

    • Bill Willis

The main problem with that page were the pictures taken of the mentally handicapped and handicapped. Never liked the page but checked it periodically to make sure I wasn’t adorning the page. lol

      • Zen Grouch

Maybe I missed it, but I read nothing about the handicapped being made fun of?

        I wonder why that is…

…unless you consider people who are bent on eating themselves into an early grave, when they have other healthy choices, handicapped. I however, consider them to be a drain on the health care system. If they want to kill themselves, they should do it in a quicker and more cost effective manner.

        • Roxanne

I looked upon the eyes of god and his name was zen… NOT… did you miss the black lady that was on the page often?? She was mentally handicapped. and as far as anyone who is fat well sir that is really not your business is it.

          • Zen Grouch

I never go to FaceBook, so no I didn’t see the black lady…

But after days of discussion under two separate articles, with all kinds of accusations flying…

…why is it ABSOLUTELY NOBODY mentioned that the handicapped were being made fun of, until **AFTER** the site was ripped out by it’s roots and made unavailable so that that particular accusation could be verified or not?!

            Catch my drift?

          • Roxanne

Then all I can say is you should of checked it out before you said anything… catch my drift..

          • Zen Grouch

Sorry, but I really don’t believe I missed anything worth complaining about, much less having banned.

And yes… I’ll bet your drift is substantial.

Then you can’t read very well Ken because they had NUMEROUS pictures of mentally disabled people and many people protested the posting of their pictures, but the unfeeling administrators left on anyways!

  • Chipper

Here I thought censorship died when Tipper Gore went away. Guess not. Congrats all you P.C. jackasses.

    • Joseph

Poor bully won’t haven’t convenient bullying opportunities. I’m sure you’ll survive.

  • ridiculousness

Zen, I can see your pic on this page…but who am I to judge anyone??

    • Zen Grouch

      Don’t know…

…don’t care, you no neck, disembodied silhouette.

  • ridiculousness

I am willing to bet the second page, which is still up, is just the same as the first. Needs to be shut down also….

    • tomf352

I don’t think I need you on your big self righteous white horse to tell me what I should and should not be able to look at. Surely you and Mr. Stewart have things in your own life you should worry more about

      • ridiculousness

Self righteous, not so much. It’s called being a grown-up! I guess somewhere in my lifetime I was taught how to be respectful of others?? Anything wrong with that?

  • hottamomma

hurray for the creatures of lorain county 2!
