Elizabeth M. “Eliz” Johnson, 89, of Elyria formally of Cleveland passed away peaceful in the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake follow short illness. She was born in Cleveland coming to Elyria in 2004.
Mrs. Johnson graduated Central High School in Cleveland were she went on to receive her Bachelor and Master Degree in Education from Wilberforce University and Kent State University. She took her education and became a teacher for the Cleveland Public school system, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Elyria Seventh day Adventist Church. Her hobbies were reading, arts and crafts, writing letters, painting, walking.
She is survived by daughters, Anasa Johnson of California, Elizabeth Crider of Elyria; son, Jerome (Jennifer) Johnson of Shaker Heights, Tyrone (Sheri) Johnson of Lansing, Michigan; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Jonhson; parents, Mr. Max H. and Mrs. Wilhelmina Vann; sister, Maryann Thornton and Maxine Brown.
Friends may call Thursday July 25, 2013 in The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 9652 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035 from 6 P.M. until the time of service at 7 P.M. Pastor Robert Bjelica will officiate. Burial will follow Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
