Clifford D. Brown, 82, of Sandusky, died peacefully in his home, with his family at his bedside, Friday, July 19, 2013. He was born January 10, 1931 in Lincoln Park, Michigan, the son of Earl and Mabel Brown.
Mr. Brown worked in the Cleveland Flats on the railroad in a variety of positions, then began to establish a number of business in Elyria; Cliff Brown Coin Laundry and Dry Cleaning (several locations), Cliff Brown Carpet and Drapery Cleaning, as well as a pizza business, a convenience store and several other businesses. He was a hard working man who always strived to make family, friends and customers feel welcome. He retired to Catawba Island in 1978 and moved to Florida in 1987.
He and his wife returned to Sandusky in 2004, where they lived at the Commons of Providence, until moving to Parkvue Place a year ago.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Tom) Hartman of Marblehead; grandchildren, Nathan and Becka Hartman of Marblehead, Joseph, Clifford and Thomas Brown, all of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, L. Elaine (Dirrim) Brown; son, Clifford D. Brown, Jr.; parents, Earl and Mabel Brown; stepmother, Elizabeth Brown; brother, William Brown; and sister, Jane Parr.
Memorial services will be planned for August.
