Obama appoints Sutton to lead shipping corridor

CLEVELAND (AP) — President Barack Obama plans to appoint a former Ohio congresswoman to lead the government-owned St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp., which runs the American side of the shipping corridor.

The White House announced Wednesday that the president will name Democrat Betty Sutton to the administrator’s job based in Washington, D.C.

The Seaway links the Great Lakes and the North Atlantic.

Sutton represented an Akron-area congressional district from 2007 to 2012. In 2012, she lost a re-election bid to incumbent Republican Jim Renacci (reh-NAY’-see) in a redrawn district.

Betty Sutton’s claim to fame was the idiotic “Cash for Clunkers” program that cost billions of dollars to subsidize people who were going to buy cars anyway and then drove up the cost of used cars and parts for mostly lower income people. To say that Sutton is dumb as a box of rocks would be unfair to boxes and rocks.

      That wasn’t her idea alone!
She stole the idea for cash for clunkers from, I think it was Germany.

      • Bob Owens

Didn’t cost bilions. It was a much needed boost to a struggling Bush induced economy.

Yea she seems real qualified. Can we get this idiot out of office already?
