Much of Oberlin loses power

A wide-spread power outage has swept through Oberlin city today, according to Oberlin police officer McCloskey.

Although uncertain if those in the townships lost power, McCloskey confirmed the outage within the city limits.

The cause is not clear, but McCloskey says it may be a shortage in Ohio Edison’s system, the company that controls Oberlin’s energy.

Because the stop lights have lost power, police are out in the streets controlling traffic and setting up temporary stop signs.

I live in carlise township and we had a power outage from around 3pm-8pm due to a car accident where a truck hit a pole and broke it in half. It happened before 2pm and theyre still down there working on everything at 12:56am the next morning. It’s on Nickle Plate Diagonal between Duck Pond and the Reservation Center down in the dip.
