William Marion Sherman, Sr.

Sherman, William PhotoWilliam Marion Sherman, Sr., 75, of Avon Lake, formerly of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 after a lengthy illness at his home. He was born November 28, 1937 in Republic, Ohio.

He served our country as an Army Reserve and then entered the trucking industry, where he worked as a truck driver for over 40 years. Mr. Sherman attended the Church of the Open Door in Elyria. He enjoyed working in his shop, family gatherings and traveling. He also loved to share his trades with anyone who was willing to listen and learn. William was a member of the Al Koran Shrine, Al Koran Mariners, Valley of Cleveland, Lorain county Scottish Rite Society and Seneca Lodge #0790 (Republic).

He was a loving husband for 35 years to Barbara (nee Wanstroth); beloved father of John Allen, Robert Eugene, William M. Jr. (Brooke) and Beth Ann (deceased); grandfather of Bryce; son of the late Hazel and Carl Sherman; brother of Charles (deceased), Gerald (Dorothea), Ronald, Walter, Laura Jean Ritterman, Melba Lucius (Vince), Karen Schubach (Tom) and Rick Sherman.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, (440) 933-3202, from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, July 31, 2013. A Masonic Service will be held by Mid Century Lodge to follow at 7 P.M. Graveside service will take place at Oakland Cemetery, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky, Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11 A.M., with Pastor Robert Wickens to officiate.
