Margaret Elizabeth Broeg (nee Gall), 91, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 on her 91st Birthday. She was born and raised in South Amherst. Her parents were both from Hungary. “Peggy” Lived most of her life in Elyria, until moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida six years ago.
She went to business school in Elyria and later joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. While in the Navy she met her husband, Albert Broeg and they were married within three weeks. They were married for 59 years.
While residing in Elyria, Peggy was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, The Elks and VFW and Salvation Army, where she volunteered. Peggy was a housewife before working for the Singer Sewing Company until retirement. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, golfing, reading and taking her daily walks around the neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sr. (Al) in 2003; brothers, Joseph, Peter and Steve; one sister, Helen; and parents, Peter and Elizabeth.
Surviving are two sons, Albert Jr. (Marcia) Broeg of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Robert (Susan) Broeg of Columbus; daughter, June Broeg of Medina; four grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Hessberger, Trisha (Mike) Fox, Kelly Broeg, Emily (Zak) Hermiller; four great grandchildren, Xander, Reese, Will and Cole.
