Glen Haponek

Haponek, GlenGlen Haponek, 63, formerly of Lorain, died Friday, July 5, 2013 in his home in Warner Robins, Georgia after a long illness. He was born May 23, 1950 in Lorain.

Glen graduated from Lorain High School in 1968. He attended Lorain County Community College and Ohio University. He graduated with a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University. Glen worked as an engineer for the Tactical Air Lift Division of Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins for 26 years. He traveled the world working on C-130 aircraft in the TCG Technical Area. Upon Glen’s retirement, the United States flag that was flown at the Main Gate of Robin A. F. B. and another flag that was flown in a MC-130 E was presented to him in recognition for his dedicated service to the U. S. Government and its people as a civilian. In his spare time Glen enjoyed golfing, painting, making gold jewelry and his six cats.

He is survived by his former wife and companion, Donna (nee Eadie) Haponek; and stepson, Eric Miltner of Warner Robins; brothers, Eugene K.”Kenny” (Patricia) Haponek of Lorain and Dane A. Haponek of North Ridgeville; sister, Jean A (Rob) Neuhart of Huber Heights, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene S. in 2010 and Mildred (nee Prosenko) Haponek in 2011.

A graveside interment service will be Friday, August 2, 2013, at 1 P.M. in Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road East, Lorain. Reverend Father John C. Retar, Pastor of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mother Cabrini Cupboard food pantry, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain, OH 44055.
