Beer deprived man ends up in jail

Beer-deprived man now thirsts in jail

AVON LAKE — One man’s love of beer got him into trouble after he police say he called 911, reporting that his ex-wife refused to let him drink his Milwaukee’s Best beer.
That was the second time on Monday that police dealt with John Bansley, 46.

He had been cited earlier in the day for an open container violation and was charged by police with public drunkenness after officers found him drinking outside of Convenient Food Mart at 10:27 a.m. Monday.

Police said Bansley was sitting on a picnic bench outside the store, drinking the beer and holding a sign that read, “Beer or bus ticket.”

Bansley told police he purchased the six-pack of Milwaukee’s Best beer at the store, and he said he was walking to Chicago after a fight with his ex-wife. Police said Bansley was intoxicated, and he admitted that he had been drinking in the early morning hours.

Bansley was cited and taken to the Lear Road home of his ex-wife, who agreed to let him stay at the home if he did not drink any beer, according to a police report. Police gave the woman Bansley’s five remaining beers, which she hid in the home.

Officers were called back to the home at 11:15 a.m. after Bansley allegedly called 911 to report that his wife wouldn’t give him his beer.

Police said, during the 911 call, Bansley told the dispatcher, “She took my beer … All I got is beer to my name.” Bansley also asked the dispatcher for her personal number, saying, “You sound kind of pretty.”

Bansley was additionally charged with improper use of a 911 system, and he was taken to Lorain County Jail.

Maybe she put the beer on the floor. From the sound of it, this loser probably has a beer gut that would prevent him from bending over to pick it up.
