Reverend Earl D. Conner, 72, of Olmsted Township, went home to be with The Lord unexpectedly, Saturday August 17, 2013, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born December 7, 1940 in Gassaway, West Virginia.
He was the owner and operator of Conner & Son Excavating in Olmsted Township, which he founded in 1975. Reverend Conner was ordained in 1966 and remained active in ministry until the time of his death. He served as pastor of several congregations, including Lodi Baptist Church in Lodi, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst and for the past two years, he was the pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst. He also served faithfully for over 20 years as the Director of Music at Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville. He loved music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. Brother Earl had been a member of several area gospel quartets.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia “Patty” (nee Cameron); two daughters, Marlene Conner of Olmsted Township and Vickie Carpenter (James) of North Olmsted; three sons, Douglas Conner (Sabrina) of Elyria, Daniel Conner (Michelle) of Courtland and Joseph Meyers (Becky) of Columbia Station; one granddaughter; 11 grandsons; two sisters, Wilda Dixon (Bob) of Charleston, West Virginia and Brenda Snyder of Florida; and one brother, Carl Conner (Diane) of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Cleo (nee Knight) Conner; and two sisters, Pauline Brown and Wanda Hoover.
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 21, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at Midway Baptist Church, 41812 Griswold Rd., Elyria. Services will be Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 10 A.M., at Midway Baptist Church. Reverend Charles Keesee, Pastor of Midway Baptist Church, will officiate. The burial will be at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Olmsted Falls.
The family suggests that, memorial contributions in his name, be made to the missions fund of either North Lake Missionary Baptist Church or Faith Baptist Temple.
