Janet was a lifelong resident of Ohio. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elyria. She volunteered her services calling bingo for senior groups and tutoring adults. Janet also spent time reading to children at the Elyria Public Library, trying to encourage them to read more. Janet was an avid reader and crossword puzzle worker. She loved traveling as well as spending time with family.
Survivors include a son, William Bakos; a daughter, Christine Plas, both of Elyria; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Bakos; and parents, William and Lena Mae (nee Stiles) Kirby.
Private services and inurnment at Ridge Hill Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made by donating a book to the Elyria Public Library, in Janet Bakos’ name.
