The man ran to an apartment at 1123 Melvyn Lane saying he had been shot and asking for the woman in the apartment to call an ambulance, according to neighbor Shareisha Woodrum.
Woodrum said she heard about six shots before the man, who she said was in his late teens or early 20′s, was shot.
Woodrum, who moved into her apartment a year ago, said it was the second time shots had been fired on the street, located off Infirmary Road, this month.
Woodrum, the mother of three young children, said she worries about her safety and her children’s safety.
Police officers searched streets near Melvyn Lane after the shooting and were looking for shell casings in the vicinity of Barbara Street.
