Ernest L. Walraven, Jr., 88, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born July 29, 1925 in Cleveland and was a North Ridgeville resident for most of his life. Ernest worked at the Ford Motor Company in Brookpark for 30 years, retiring as a Quality Control Inspector. He was a WWII United States Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific with the 37th Infantry Division, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor during the Battle of Bougainville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 717 in North Ridgeville.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Leick); daughters, Susan (Thomas) Traut and Karen (Michael) Graham, both of Elyria; grandchildren, Rick, Jr., Adam and Michael Halvorsen, Andrew Rainey, and Orrie, Timmy, and Anna Traut; great grandchildren, Nathan and Gwendolyn Halvorsen; sisters, Jean Barnett of Elyria and Audrey Lauderdale of California.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Halvorsen.
