Dell was born October 5, 1928, in Morehead, Kentucky, where she was raised. After marriage, she moved to Lorain. Dell enjoyed being a housewife and mother. She also worked part-time as a cashier at Myer Goldberg in Lorain. She attended Camden Baptist Church. Dell loved gardening and had a vegetable booth at Johnny’s Flea Market.
Survivors include her son, Gary Sparks of Malvern Arkansas; and son-in-law, Larry Leadingham, with whom she had made her home in Wakeman; many grandchildren, including Jennifer Cook, Scott Leadingham and Joseph Sparks, as well as many great grandchildren. She was also survived by her sister, Ruby Charlet of Morehead, Kentucky.
Dell was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Willie “Bill” Sparks; her daughters, Barbara Hall in 2005, Carolyn Leadingham in 2011, and infant, Brenda Sue Sparks in 1948; sisters, Marelia Cornsih and Elsie Vickey; and parents, Ora and Pearl Hall (nee Conley).
Friends may call Monday, August 26, 2013, from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Reverend Lawrence Nocella, Pastor of Camden Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
