James W. Thomas, Sr., 84 years old, of Elyria died at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, on Friday, August 23, 2013 following a short illness. Mr. Thomas was born on September 20, 1928 in Garrett, Pennsylvania and was an Elyria resident since 1961.
He was a Foreman at Pfaulder Company for 20 years and also worked at Murray Ridge Mental Health Center where he retired after five years. A United States Army veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict. A life member of the VFW, Post 1079, he enjoyed yard work and gardening.
Surviving him are his wife of 57 years, Irene M. (nee Trinder); sons, Daron of Elyria, James of Oregon, and Jimmy of Montana; and daughters, Tammy McDonald of LaGrange, and Sherrilyn Regan of Arkansas; and several brothers, sisters; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Panzie (nee Warner) Thomas; and a sister, Shirley Decker.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be in the funeral home at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 with the Reverend Father John Vrana, Associate Pastor of St. Jude Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio with full military honors provided by the VFW, Post 1079, Elyria, Ohio.
