He graduated from Lorain High School in 1941. Mr. Hobar was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was employed at General Industries in Elyria for 41 years and retired in 1985. Mr. Hobar attended and served at Midview Baptist Church in Grafton for many years and he was a member of AMVETS Post #47 in Lorain. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fast pitch softball, umpiring, woodcrafts and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda (nee Blackert); two daughters, Brenda Gerber (Wynn) and Karen Schaffner (Tim); two sons, Bob (Evelyn) and Ron (Linda) Hobar; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and by four sisters, Frances Hobor, Bernadette Steadman, Dorothy Hobar and Marcella Turton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna Hobor; twin daughters, Carla and Carol Hobar; and by his brother, Edward Hobor.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M., at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 11 A.M., at Midview Baptist Church, 36710 W. Royalton Rd., Grafton, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Mayo will officiate. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church.
