Roy R. Cooper, Sr., 67, of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. He was born December 18, 1945 in Elyria.
Roy served in the United States Army stationed in Vietnam. He was employed for 27 years at the Ford Lorain Plant Econo Motor Line. He was a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church and VFW Post #1079 in Elyria. He enjoyed Bible reading, music, time spent with his grandkids, and time with his friends at the Broad Street McDonalds.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lois (nee Miller); sons, Roy Cooper Jr. (Katie) of South Carolina, Jeff Cooper of Elyria, Gary Cooper of Lorain, daughters, Robin Sole (Ray) of North Ridgeville, Dawn Bonza (Don) of Medina, Stacie Jone (Randy) of Elyria; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Westley, Bob, Mike, and Rick.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Amos Cooper Jr.; sisters, Lois Westfall and Joyce Manning; parents, Amos Sr. and Reba Cooper (nee Delk).
Friends may call 3 to 6 P.M., Friday, August 30, 2013, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Funeral service will be 6 P.M., Friday, with Military Honors. Reverend Mike Manosky will officiate.
