Avon police were called to the home Lonnie Sherrill shared with Gina Nagy, at 4275 Center Road. A search warrant did not explain the relationship between them.
According to the search warrant, Sherrill called 911 Tuesday to report that his girlfriend was covered in blood when he came from a friend’s house. Police arrived at the scene, and the victim told officers that the suspect stabbed her in the back of the head. She was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Police found a large amount of blood on the floor of the bedroom and on the pillow on top of the bed. A large amount of blood also was on what appeared to be a shirt that was on top of the pillow, according to the search warrant requested by Avon police.
Avon police Detective Eric Peachman wrote in the affidavit that, from his observations through the windows of the home, he could see a large amount of blood around the bathroom sink and on the kitchen door.
Peachman did not elaborate on what may have led up to the alleged attack.
Sherrill’s court-appointed attorney, Anthony Baker, said he could not comment on Sherrill’s case until he received more information.
